On Wednesday evening 8th February 2012, from 6 till 9pm Derbyshire Friend will be hosting Derbyshire Constabulary to assist them in consulting with the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual community around their Equality Duty.
To take part in this event please just come along on Wednesday Evening, however, Derbyshire Friend will be providing food for the event so if you wish to attend please email andrewc@gayderbyshire.org.uk .
Please see below a message from Derbyshire Constabulary with more details;
“Derbyshire Constabulary has published equality information as part of our legal duty under the Equality Act. This information includes statistics relating to persons who share a relevant protected characteristic who use our services and also our workforce.
By 6 April 2012, Derbyshire Constabulary must prepare and publish equality objectives which will address the most pressing equality issues facing the protected groups. The two month timescale allows interested members of the public, and voluntary and community sector organisations an opportunity to engage with and influence Derbyshire Constabulary, from an informed perspective, on what the objectives should be.
As part of Derbyshire Constabulary engagement plan, staff from the Equality Unit would like to meet with you and seek your views on what the objectives should look like.”
This is a really good opportunity to feed into the police and plan for the future.
NB – The consultation for the Trans community is on the same day, Wednesday 8th February from 1:30pm to 4:30 pm here at Derbyshire Friend. For more information about this event please contact Beth on beths@gayderbyshire.org.uk
