The Family Justice Centre is here for you…
The Family Justice Centre is a new way to help women, men and their families if they are experiencing, or trying to escape from, domestic and sexual violence. This includes stalking, honour based violence and forced marriage.
Up until now, the services designed to help victims have been located across the city. The FJC brings all of these services straight to you in one location.
The staff at the centre can help with issues such as:
- Domestic Violence
- Sexual Violence
- Harassment or stalking
- Forced Marriage
- Honour-based violence
and some of the options available include:
- Court action against your abuser
- Protection from members of your family
- Keeping safe
Who can help me at the Family Justice Centre?
The Family Justice Centre is a base for all sorts of organisations whose staff can help you, including domestic and sexual violence advocates, specially trained police officers, counsellors, support workers and housing officers.
Telling someone about the abuse you are experiencing will be difficult. You may have practical concerns, such as where you will live if you want to move out of your home, or what will happen to your children. Support is available. You are not alone. Staff at the Family Justice Centre are there to help you break the cycle of abuse.
The Family Justice Centre offers a drop in service Monday – Friday, between 10am and 4pm, or ring us for an appointment.

AVEDASS – Amber Valley & Erewash Domestic Abuse Support Service
AVEDASS work with anyone who has been a victim of Domestic Abuse.
Direct support is being offered to families through one-to-one support including emotional and practical advice. Referrals can be made to Social Care for matters concerning child protection and more specialised support in times of difficulties, such as child care and respite.
A Domestic Abuse Awareness Programme has been devised and the service provides a confidential service by offering young people:
- A listening ear
- Someone to talk through difficult issues
- Someone who they can express their fears and experiences safely.
AVEDASS also offers:
- Drop-ins for women
- Freedom programme

Men’s Advice Line

The Men’s Advice Line is a confidential helpline for all men experiencing domestic violence by a current or ex-partner. This includes all men – in heterosexual or same-sex relationships. The Men’s Advice Line offers emotional support, practical advice and information on a wide range of services for further help and support. Our focus to to increase the safety of men experiencing domestic violence (and the safety of their children) and reduce the risk.

Talk It Over
We want to give all men who experience domestic violence/abuse the chance to talk about it. We provide emotional support, we can give you practical advice and we can inform you of specialist services that can give you advice on legal, housing, child contact, mental health and other issues.

Monday – Friday, 10am – 1pm & 2pm – 5pm

Victim Support
If you have been a victim of any crime or have been affected by a crime committed against someone you know, we can help you to cope with the experience.
Our services are free and available to everyone, whether or not the crime has been reported and regardless of when it happened. We are not part of the police, the courts or any other criminal justice agency.
Our trained volunteers offer:
- Someone to talk to in confidence
- Information on police and court procedures
- Help in dealing with other organisations
- Information about compensation and insurance
- Links to other sources of help
